Tonico Lemos Auad
Tonico Lemos Auad is a Brazilian artist, living and working in London. Having graduated from Goldsmith's College in 2000, he was shortlisted for the Beck's Futures prize at London's ICA in 2004. Auad was also included in The British Art Show 06, at London's Hayward Gallery. Auad's work uses a great variety of materials in his concern to investigate material things, process, sensuality and humanity. He is as likely to use carpet fluff as he is gold, and the value of these materials is secondary to the sensitive observation of thought-provoking connections between ourselves and the society we create.
In 2005 Auad participated, with several other artists, in the Zoo Portfolio, a curated portfolio of works published by Archeus and sold to raise funds for the Zoo Art Fair for emerging artists. Tonico Lemos Auad is now represented by Stephen Friedman Gallery in London, CRG Gallery in New York, and Galeria Luisa Strina in Sao Paulo.
