Lorries
Hughie O'Donoghue
Following A Line of Retreat, the series of ten works charting the dramatic egress of his father, and the British Army's, from France during 1940, this period of history would inform O'Donoghue's work almost entirely for the next decade. The series was conceived after the artist came into possession of journals left to him after his father's death: Lorries For Anyone Who Can Drive was a memorable entry, amongst so many, evocative enough to gain the artist's long consideration.
