A large and impressive early oil painting by Mary Fedden. The composition shows two schoolgirls bearing bright bunches of flowers so large that their heads are buried. The work is a great, painterly example from the transitional period of the artists career - between the formal Slade-influenced early paintings of the 1940s and the emergence of her definite style in the mid-1960s.
