Although dated 1945, it is generally accepted that James Dixon did not paint (in this way) until after his meeting with Derek Hill in the early 1960s. The date of 1945 may either refer to the date of the event, or more likely may be a mistake by Dixon and should read 1965.Extensively inscribed, signed and dated incorrectly
