DAN FLAVIN
Nothing as full as the air
Coinciding with the touring retrospective exhibition of Dan Flavin's work at the Hayward Gallery, Archeus presents an installation of two of his light sculptures.
These works have a discernable and impressive presence.
They resonate with a simple, empty wonder.
You are invited to enter the gallery and seek a reaction to the work to see if, like others, you feel the ethereal, magnetic sense of pure beauty radiates which from the work.
Walk into the dimly lit room where the air seems to be filled and see how it is to be completely aware.
Flavin is a towering figure in Modern American Art, exploring lines and casts of light in the way that Barnett Newman explored paint. He remains unique, and the recent publication of the Catalogue Raisonné of his work, entitled The Complete Lights, discloses for the first time how rare in number his completed works actually are.
