WILLIAM SCOTT - A SURVEY OF HIS ORIGINAL PRINTS

FEBRUARY 2 - 26 2005

COLLECTORS' PREVIEW - FEBRUARY 1, 2005

William Scott's printmaking was a serious accessory to his painted work, yet there has never been a comprehensive exhibition of his prints. For the first time, Archeus has brought together over two-thirds of Scott's known prints in a single exhibition - work that spans almost forty years. From his early and rare lithographic still life arrangements, through the evocative and romantic abstracts of the 1960s, to the neo-classical purity of his later screenprints - this exhibition aims to illustrate that Scott used his printmaking to summarise entire phases of his career, and to underline strong periods of advancement in his work.

Over forty prints will be on display, discussed and illustrated in a 60-page catalogue. Importantly, the catalogue will include a checklist of all known prints by William Scott, complete with sizes, editions and printing notes.

Included in the exhibition are some unpublished rarities, such as Three Pears and Pan of 1955. All work in the exhibition will be for sale, and will represent a rare opportunity for serious collectors to acquire sought-after images.

Original paintings and drawings by William Scott continue to be available throughout this exhibition - please enquire to see our stock list.
